Babies Can’t Wait

lindaLinda Kimura has over 30 years experience working with early childhood development programs across the United States and in Canada. Her philosophy is rooted in relationship-based services for children, families, and staff.  She has significant experience working with Native American, Alaska Native, Pacific Islander, and other First People groups.

She earned a B.A. in Early Childhood Development and an M.A. in Human Development and is an Infant/Toddler Specialist and Academic Instructor for the Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) at WestEd.

babies_cant_wait_140wLinda is the author of “Babies Can’t Wait: Relationship-based home visiting” (a home visitor training book), “Music: The Great Organizer” (a chapter in “Learning to Read the World”) and “Home Visiting Programs: At Risk Families with Newborns” (a chapter in “Child Abuse and Neglect: Guidelines for Identification, Assessment and Case Management”).

girl_satchelShe also performs as “The Ukulele Baby Lady”, bringing music and rhythm to the topics of early literacy and self esteem. She owns Babies Can’t Wait: International Training and Technical Assistance – a consulting firm, and works closely with Danya International and the National Head Start Family Literacy Center.

Linda has  been employed in many positions in Head Start, including Teacher, Home Visitor, Family Services Manager, Education Manager, and Director of a two-county program.  First and most importantly, she was a Head Start parent.
